«The thoughts of others were light and fleeting, of lovers' meeting or luck or fame. Mine were of trouble, and mine were steady, and I was ready when trouble came.» A.E. Housman

We shed light on strategic controversies to prepare you for trouble.

WHAT WE DO AND WHY IT MATTERS
«The illusory promise of stakeholder governance» of Harvard's Lucian Bebchuk sparked my interest in corporate governance in the height of the ESG-Hype.
The grand marathon of business moves through unavoidable paradoxes and the constant churn of creative destruction.
With the world order under stress, the controversies around ESG and shareholder vs. stakeholder governance, societal polarisation, and the AI revolution, these tensions have never been more exposed.
We help you navigate controversies without becoming paralysed.
Blending outside-in analysis of your Target's and their peer group's strategic and financial communications with an investigation into their identity using OSINT, we uncover where their narrative is at risk of drifting into illusory promises—and where these tensions allow the extraction of rents at the expense of long-term value.
In a world where easy answers are tempting, those who embrace ambiguity hold the advantage, because they are not caught off guard when trouble comes.
As the cases of BlackRock, BP, Bud Light, Disney, Unilever and Volkswagen have shown, hypocrisy and narrative incoherences do not just trigger a little backlash—they erode the very legitimacy of those who govern and create opportunities to extract private rents from investors’ capital.
WHO IS DOING IT
With a decade in Financial Audit, Capital Markets, and Mergers & Acquisitions at KPMG in Hamburg and PwC in Zurich and experience from 47 due diligence projects, I bring the rigour and experience to identify incoherencies and vulnerabilities where strategy, incentives, and narratives are most exposed.
As part of my Ph.D. candidacy at the University of St. Gallen, I review more than 3,300 academic contributions on the corporate purpose debate and analyse 2,900 CEO letters to understand how the discourse drifts in the tension fields of market, power, and morality.
My earlier work at Bocconi University examined the strategies, management, and remuneration systems of DAX corporations to expose gaps between stakeholder-related promises and actions.
I continue to engage in cross-disciplinary dialogues—from Cambridge University seminars on the world order to Austrian Institute lectures on social and economic philosophy—to understand the forces shaping corporate legitimacy.

Tim Tesdorff blends a decade of practical experience with deep academic insights.
