I conduct financial due diligence, uncover structural weaknesses in corporate governance, and identify inconsistencies in strategic communications in German and Swiss acquisition and investment targets.
My work builds on more than a decade in financial audit, capital markets, and M&A at KPMG in Hamburg and PwC in Zurich, where I worked on dozens of audit mandates and 47 due diligence engagements.
This practical experience is complemented by academic training from my master’s studies at Bocconi University and my ongoing doctoral research in corporate governance at the University of St. Gallen.
These issues matter across company sizes, though for different reasons. In the SME segment, the coming retirement of the Boomer generation will drive a significant increase in transactions over the next decade. This makes efficient diligence on value-critical risks and structural weaknesses indispensable.
In listed companies, the rise of passive investing and conceptual confusion around ESG have shifted power and discretion toward management and boards. Remuneration systems have grown complex and opaque, often built on vague or internally inconsistent targets. ESG commitments were frequently made quickly—until it stopped being fashionable. Entrenched boards and misaligned strategic priorities have become catalysts for activist intervention and it is important for investors and companies alike to know the firm's weaknesses.
